Founded in 1925 under the name “Turk Tayyare Cemiyeti” (Turkish Aircraft Association), the Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK) is as old as the Republic itself. Its mission was to cultivate a national passion for aviation and to inspire the Turkish people to look toward the sky. Since then, THK has introduced thousands of young people to the world of aviation—from gliders to model aircraft—helping them discover the excitement and discipline of flight.
In 2025, during the institution’s 100th anniversary celebrations, the Eskisehir Inonu Aviation Center became the stage for a remarkable gathering. With the sound of wind blending into the rustling wings overhead, hundreds of competitors and spectators joined the THK 100th Anniversary Festival. Among all the activities, the P-30 free flight competitions attracted the greatest excitement.
In the P-30 category, both junior and adult competitors launched their rubber-powered aircraft into the sky. One of these competitors was Ahmet Furkan Turedi, born in 2012. Despite being only 13 years old, he had already begun to make a name for himself in the world of model aviation. And on this special day, the winds of İnönü were on his side.
Furkan won first place in the Junior category and second place overall. His coach, Mehmet Sertkaya, also took first place among adults, creating a shared moment of pride for teacher and student alike. When Furkan’s scores were announced, the event host couldn’t hide his astonishment, exclaiming: “I’ve never seen scores like these before!” After all, three of Furkan’s five flights were maximum-time flights, an impressive achievement even among experienced flyers.
During the award ceremony, Furkan received not only his trophy but also a special owl figurine from İsmail Sarıoglu’s personal collection. More than a keepsake, the owl symbolized wisdom, patience, and sharp attention—the core values of model aircraft flying. Small in size yet full of meaning, it represented respect for a young boy whose eyes were set firmly on the sky.
Amid the hundreds of model aircraft soaring across the Eskisehir sky, Furkan’s plane briefly crossed the sun’s path—dancing with the wind and leaving behind not just a fleeting trail, but the promise of a new generation continuing a century-long aviation tradition.

Gökyüzünde Yüz Yıl: THK 100. Yıl Şenliği, P-30 Serbest Uçuş Yarışları ve Genç Bir Şampiyon
Cumhuriyet’le yaşıt olan Türk Hava Kurumu, 1925 yılında “Türk Tayyyare Cemiyeti” adıyla kurulur. Kurumun amacı, Türk milletinde havacılık sevgisini ve bilincini geliştirmekti. O günden bugüne binlerce gencin, planörlerden model uçaklara kadar farklı alanlarda gökyüzüyle tanışmasını sağladı.
Bu yıl (2025), kurumun 100. yılı kutlamaları kapsamında Eskişehir İnönü Havacılık Merkezi bambaşka bir heyecana sahne oldu. Rüzgârın kanat sesine karıştığı geniş arazide, yüzlerce yarışmacı ve izleyici “Türk Hava Kurumu 100. Yıl Şenliği” için bir araya geldi. Etkinlikte en çok ilgi ise P-30 serbest uçuş yarışmalarına oldu.
P-30 kategorisinde hem yetişkinler hem de genç yarışmacılar, lastik motorlu uçaklarını gökyüzüyle buluşturdu. O yarışmacılardan biri de 2012 doğumlu Ahmet Furkan Türedi idi. Henüz 13 yaşında olmasına rağmen, model uçak dünyasında adını kısa sürede duyurmuştu. İnönü’nün rüzgârı bu kez onunla birlikte esiyordu.
Furkan, Junior kategorisinde birinciliği, genel klasmanda ise ikinciliği kazandı. Danışman öğretmeni Mehmet Sertkaya da aynı yarışmada birinci olarak farklı gururları bir arada yaşadı. Yarışma sunucusu, Furkan’ın puanlarını açıklarken “Ben böyle puanlar görmedim!” diyerek şaşkınlığını gizleyemedi; çünkü Furkan’ın beş atışının üçü “max”, yani en yüksek uçuş süresiyle sonuçlanmıştı.
Ödül töreninde Furkan’a, kupasının yanı sıra İsmail Sarıoğlu’nun özel koleksiyonundan bir baykuş figürü hediye edildi. Bu zarif armağan, yalnızca bir ödül değil; model uçak dünyasında dikkat, sabır ve bilgeliğin sembolüydü. Küçük bir figür ama büyük bir anlam taşıyordu: Gökyüzüne bakan bir çocuğun azmine duyulan saygı.
Eskişehir semalarında uçan yüzlerce model uçağın arasında, Furkan’ın uçağı bir an için güneşin önünden geçti — rüzgârla dans ederken ardında sadece bir iz değil, yüz yıllık havacılık geleneğinin genç bir devamını bıraktı.
